Did I send the wrong email to 600+ people...TWICE?

Being an OBM while Mercury is in Retrograde

Listen I don’t even fully understand what Mercury in Retrograde means (and I am SURROUNDED by astrology queens, I promise I listen and read your essays and in the moment my cells tingle with a yes and then POOF, it leaves my brain) but whatever is happening, this is pushing my comfort zone around how it feels to F*CK up. The inner critic is SO MEAN. But only for a minute because my highest self (my intuition, the version who is rich and retired at 40, generous as hell and RESTED) has my BACK. After I have a menty b first. It’s all moving.

This was the moment I wanted to disappear

For the last several months I have been supporting an absolute powerhouse of a Psychic human being, Crystal Moreland, with her launch of The Conscious Psychic Summit (FREE event happening 7/8 at 10:00 am CST - BE THEREEEE) and The School for Psychics (more on that later). If you’ve been feeling called to learn more about how to strengthen your intuition and discernment, this is THE school for you. It’s 5 months of self-paced curriculum in the COOLEST online community of people also strengthening their psychic connection. Crystal is such an insanely cool human being and client to work with! I had a moment during this launch where it hit me that THIS is my dream life. Working with humans like Crystal (and literally ALL OF MY CLIENTS. Every single one of them. I am THE LUCKIEST).

And still… this past week was FULL of “fuck ups”. Enough for there to still be a pit in my stomach about it. I sent 600+ subscribers 3 completely irrelevant emails that linked to a broken website, I gave a $22 course away for free (to now 50+ people), and then I sent all 600+ subscribers a “one week away” email 2 DAYS before the live event. ARE YOU SWEATING??? Yeah. Me too.

Crystal is one of those people you can meet once and know she’s someone you want in your corner. She’s that friend who calls you out on your shit and very directly reminds you who the fuck you are. So when I started to spiral down the “I quit, who do I think I am” abyss, she responded with “Mariah, actually this is fucking GREAT and I wouldn’t want to be doing this with anybody else.” Not in the “oh honey, everything happens for a reason” way that people just say to make me feel better (thanks mom). But literally KNEW why this was happening. Within 48 hours she knew that the course I gave everyone access to for free (ON ACCIDENT) was supposed to be the free course that she’d promote next. She was STOKED that it got 50+ people in her world in a way that the upsell was not. She knew that whoever didn’t like the random emails would unsubscribe and that anyone she actually wanted to stick around in her world wouldn’t even bat an eye at something like this. We’re HUMANS. We’re here to LEARN and FFFFCKKK what an experience that was!

But would I treat my clients this way? NO

How would I treat my clients, friends, or CHILDREN if they told me about this?? I’d say UM are you performing life saving surgery? No? Move on. Emails shmemails, we have 10,000 of them unread in our inbox at one time, if this ruins their day, no it did not. And with a launch like this, the goal is NOT to please all 700+ plus people (it isn’t for them right now and that’s none of my business). And here’s what I would do next time:

  1. Separate out the “welcome” email from the reminder emails about the event. Too many subscribers in the workflow can slow it down and then people will either miss emails, or you risk sending the wrong shit at the wrong time.

  2. If you’re scheduling an email to send on a specific day of the year, don’t check the box that says to wait until the next year if the date has passed. And definitely don’t edit it afterwards because it will send the email from a week ago to…apparently…everyone?!

  3. Don’t add all segments to a segment just to make sure EVERYONE is included because that actually means you’re adding all people in those segments to all segments and there is no undo for that one. And DEFINITELY don’t do that if you have live workflows that will then add everyone to all active workflows.

  4. Don’t work on emails at 2 am because you’re excited. Just fcking sleep.

I know none of this is the end of the world, and I also know my intention with everything I do is: I want everyone who wants to be there to be there, and I want everyone to be included in all communications. It’s simple, and I get to still be an Intuitive Operations Partner. In fact, this makes me better and more informed for the next time I run an even bigger launch. I could shrink and run and hide. But what if the founder who has been operating all on her own for the last 5 years is reading this and thinking “I thought I was just incompetent”. NOPE, this happens to people who are in the systems all day every day.

This is WHY using my intuition is priceless

It’s also a moment for my own intuitive journey to unfold because when I am working from hype, I miss things. When I slow down, breathe, and let my intuition guide me, it might “not make sense” logically but that’s the whole point. Quiet the ego’s storytelling and sink into self trust. The message that has been coming through for my work here and my business in general is: Mariah is not here to save everyone. This is where I have real work to do ok. I LOVEEEE helping founders, I love showing them what it feels like to be resourced and not have to think of every detail of everything on their own. And, I’ve been hearing loud and clear lately that my presence is enough!!!! Can I just let that be what it is? Or am I going to keep prancing around showing everyone how much I can DO.

So, this was my divine intervention delivered in the form of “will you just stop fucking doing so much and let your presence be enough?” and I’m LISTENING!! Because don’t ever mess with a brilliant woman’s audience ever again, ok?! I’m listening. What does this mean? I am going to start giving the “doing” work over to other people so I can BE in the being. In the moments of decision making where my brain, heart and intuition are potent. I don’t have to be the one running to set everything up with my own energy and effort. I get to hold the space and be the intuitive operations partner. I get to hold my communication boundaries, take 3-5 days to respond and not beat myself up about it. I get to rewrite how it feels to hire by hiring with my human design. I get to work in cycles and seasons, be the present mom, log off and play loudly without guilt, be the partner who makes the money, and rewrite the old story about how hard it all has to be.

The message here is: the cost of support is convenience. Relying on other people is risky. AND, it’s worth the risk every time. I’d rather be in the growing pains with a partner than alone, waiting for someone to see me and throw me a life boat.

I think I need an OBM, but I’m confused what you actually do for me?
